Mahipar Stars beat Hindukush Strikers by 10 wickets in the opening match of Etisalat – Cup Ahmad Shah Abdali First Class Tournament 2024 opening match.


Winning the toss earlier on Monday at Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Stadium, Mahipar Stars won the toss and opted to bowl first.
After being put into bat first, Hindukush Strikers scored 196/10 in their first innings. Their Batters Baheer Shah scored 42, Hizbullah Durrani 40 and Abdul Hadi 29 and contributed well in their first innings total while in the bowling, fast bowler Mohammad Gul Alizai with 5 wickets, spinner Zahir Shahzad with 3 wickets and another fast bowler Mohammad Ibrahim Sharifi with 2 wickets bowled well for Mahipar Stars.
Chasing the first innings score, Mahipar Stars scored 280/10 in their first innings taking the lead of 84 runs. Ali Ahmad Nasir with 55, Ijaz Ahmad with 46 and Hamza Hotak with 37 runs contributed well in their total of the first innings. From Hindukush Team bowling unit, fast bowler Ziaurrahman Sharifi took 3 wickets, Stand-in captain and Spinner Tahir also took 3 wickets while another fast bowler Aftab Alam took 2 wickets for his team.


When Hindukush Strikers started to bat in their second innings, their batters scored 141/10 runs and set a target of only 58 runs to Mahipar Stars. Baheer Shah with 43 and Ijaz Ahmadzai with 27 were good with the bat in score contribution.
Mohammad Gul Alizai and Hamza Hotak with 3 wickets each and Zahir Shahzad with 2 wickets bowled well for their team.
Mahipar Stars easily chased down the target of 58 runs and beat Hindukush Strikers with 10 wickets. Their opening pair was unbeaten with Imran Mir scored 39 and Yousaf Shah 17 runs.
Mohammad Gul Alizai was awarded man of the match for his brilliant bowling, getting 8 wickets in the match and contributing in the win for his side.

It is noteworthy that the second match of the event ended yesterday where Maiwand Champions emerged victorious by beating Pamir Legends with a big margin of an innings and 74 runs.

In the upcoming matches, the Maiwand Champions will face Mahipar Stars in match number 3 at Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Ground while Pamir Legends will be meeting Hindukush Strikers in match number 4 at Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground on Sunday, September 22.
