Maiwand Champions beat Pamir Legends by a big margin of an innings and 74 runs in the second match of Ahmad Shah Abdali First Class Tournament 2024.
Pamir Legends won the toss of the second match and opted to bowl first against Maiwand Champions that started earlier in Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground on Monday.
After putting in to bat first, Maiwand Champions scored 276/10 runs. Abdullah Tarakhil scoring 74, Bilal Ahmad Tarin 53, Rahimullah Zurmati 43 and Nasir Jamal 40 contributed well in the total of the first innings while Pamir Legends fast bowlers Bashir Ahmad with 5 wickets, Yama Arab 3 and spinner Ziaurrahman Akbar with 2 wickets performed well with the bowl.
In the second innings of the match, Maiwand Champions were outstanding with the ball and got out the whole team for only 43 runs with 8 wickets from the skipper and fast bowler Yamin Ahmadzai. The high runs in the lineup came from the captain Ziaurrahman Akbar who only scored 12 runs.
As Pamir Legends were well behind with the margin of 233 runs, they were followed on by team Maiwand Champions to bat again in the match.
In their second innings, they fell short and the whole team got out for only 159 runs and lost the match with the big margin of an innings and 74 runs. Sohail Khan with 40, Islam Zazai with 24 and Ismat Alam with 22 runs scored well for their team in the second innings but could not cross the line and lost the match.
In this innings, Maiwand Champions bowlers, Leg breaker Arab Gul Momand with 3 wickets, fast bowlers Nasim Mangal with 2, Yamin Ahmadzai and Abdullah Tarakhil and spinner Mohammadullah Logari got 1,1 wicket each for their team.
Maiwand Champions captain Yamin Ahmadzai was named player of the match for his outstanding performance that include 9 wickets and 30 runs.
The Maiwand Champions will face Mahipar Stars in the 3rd match that will be played on Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Ground while Pamir Legends will be meeting Hindukush Strikers in the 4th match on Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground next Sunday.
