A tremendous innings from Young batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz and great bowling by Sharafuddin Ashraf ensured Wazirzai Mis-e Ainak Knights become the first Finalist of Shpageeza Cricket League 2019 beating Paragon Band-e Amir Dragons by 7 wickets. Gurbaz scored 80 including 4 fours and 8 sixes while Sharafuddin Ashraf took 3 wickets giving away only 15 runs.
Gurbaz and senior batsman Noor Ali Zadran put together an opening partnership of 95 runs in just 8.3 overs before the former was bowled by Javed Ahmadi. Zadran remained unbeaten on 44 as his partners Ihsanullah Janat and Shafiqullah Ghafari were run out for 36 and 0 respectively.
Earlier, Band-e Amir skipper Rashid Khan won the toss and opted to bat first as the defending Champions sought to make their way to the Final. Khan opened the batting and scored 26 runs while wicket-keeper batsman Afsar Zazai and Imran Jannat gave notable batting performances from his team scoring 56 and 44 runs respectively. Knights’ Sharafuddin Ashraf bowled brilliantly taking 3 wickets off his 4 fours.
Paragon Band-e Amir Dragons still have a chance to qualify for the Final of the tournament as they play the winner of today’s Eliminator match between Speenghar Tigers and Kabul Eagles tomorrow afternoon.
